Off To Competition!

RCS Engineering will be taking it’s prototype robot to the BEST Labs facility on October 22 to compete with other firms to get the account. Our robot (Bug Snatcher 2011) has been designed to carefully collect insect samples from the escape area and place them gently in the appropriate containment area(s). Future iterations of the robot might include a pressurized air collection system, tracked movement, and/or an automated food deployment system.

Working Hard

Well, the project is coming along nicely. All our projects seem to be on time, some a little ahead of time even! The R&D team have a good start on our robot. It was driveable Monday and they are working on the major parts this weekend. The IT group has done a great job of getting our booth “stuff” done (not giving away any secrets ) They also have worked hard to get the robot programmed so that it is driveable. The Marketing group is getting the booth in shape and will start getting it together Friday and should have it nearly done by Saturday. I am really proud of the way the team has come together with a true business-like sense this year. When they get here there is no playing around (well, for the most part) and they truly get things done.

RCS Robotics Community Involvement

On Saturday, May 14, the RCS Robotics team met at Clark Pulley to help with the tornado relief distribution center. About 10 students, along with a few parents, showed up to help. We stayed about 3 hours, organizing material, unloading a truck of shoes, and making pallets of material to be shipped out to the affected areas. We hope to return to help again in the near future. As the team sponsor, I would like to invite all groups in the Russellville City Schools to do the same.
